September
2007

From the Presidents PC,

Man I can't believe how fast the summer has gone by. Its September already, the days are getting shorter and the nights longer.

Thanks to the Manchester's for the use of their home and back yard for the August / meeting picnic. Sorry the wife and I couldn't stay for the eats, as you all know it was my granddaughter's 1st birthday party.

Check below for the times and places for the September cruise and photo/poker run, it should be fun if the weather is good.

Tech nights have been far and few and in-between. The weather has been so pleasant this summer; it seems a shame to be in side and sweating.  When the days get cooler garage work is a lot easier.

My last car show was the all Pontiac show at Piehler Pontiac. No trophy for me but George Nick took first place; what else is new. My class, resto rods had some beautiful cars in it; a friend of mine, Gary Haskins, with a 1955 Pontiac took first place.

Angela and I visited with Chuck Inzinna on his 65th birthday. He is doing very well and is very lucky. He said he would be ready to start tech nights on Thursday's on the 58 Corvette around October. More news to come in the October newsletter.

Phil Mackowiak and I want to take some photos of your car and garage where it's kept. More on this at the September poker run.

Until then,

Stay well and healthy,

Bill Sablosky
President FLCCC

  • Car Show – Bill called Barb Boehly to thank her for the quilt donation that was auctioned at the show.  We should also send a letter.  The Genesee Valley Rotary Camp was very grateful for the $1,000 donation and used it to purchase handicapped accessible tables for the dining hall.  General consensus is to sponsor the same charity next year.

  • Discussion on how to get more people to our car show next year.  Can give flyers to spectators at other shows, not just the car owners.  Send two copies of the flyer to everyone who attended our show.  Also discussed changing the date as we compete with Lockport.  July 4th weekend was suggested, but several people will not be available.

  • 2008 Car Show Committee will be:  Phil – Goodie Bags (He did a super job this year), Larry H. – plaques,  Bill S. – Flyers.  Help from others will be requested throughout the year and of course when it is time for the show.

Old Business:

  • Bill gave an update on the direction the club is going and read parts of things he wrote back in 2005 and 2007.  It is unfortunate that the participation is dwindling.  We need activities to bring people in.  He reminded everyone to have club info with them at all times so that it is easy to give to people you talk to.

  • Bill assigned the job of activities chairmen to Larry DiLullo and himself.

New Business:

  • Reminder that elections are coming up in November and all positions are available.  We’d like to see others step up and get some fresh ideas.
