April
2007
From the Presidents PC,
Spring has sprung, or has it. We live in
Rochester, you know what they say here ------ just wait 10 minutes and the
weather will change.
I remember going to a Rochester Red Wing
opening day baseball game. The first 2 innings were very pleasant, just like
spring. The 3rd and 4th innings, the wind kicked up and
the temperature plunged, fall was coming. The 5th and 6th
innings it was like winter, snow flurries and wind chills. It never turned back
to summer so we decided to listen to the rest of the game on the radio on the
way home.
Another time I was on my way to work in the
morning, listening to one of our local radio stations, after the song ended the
DJ told a joke about the weather in Rochester, it went something like this.
I had a friend who was a weatherman on one
of the Rochester TV channels. He was on the job for a little over two years and
unfortunately for him his weather predictions were seventy percent off. The
station sat him down one day and said we have to let you go. He was very unhappy
in Rochester after that and decided to move and start anew. After moving and
settling down he tried his hand at several different jobs in the new area but
wasn’t happy at any of them. One day while reading the want ads he came across
an ad for a weatherman at a local TV station so he decided to apply for the
position. As he was applying for the job the form had one line that stated,
reason for leaving last job? He thought for a while and finally wrote down, the
weather did not agree with me.
As I said when I started spring is sprung
and the push is on to finish the winter projects and get cruising for summer.
Don’t be shy; if you think you can’t handle something call a club member or a
friend, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
See you all at the shows and local cruises,
Bill Sablosky
